Cheryl’s Life Journey
On Monday, January 14, 1957, Hayward and Emma Lou Miles Joubert were blessed with a beautiful baby girl they named, Cheryl Lynn.
Cheryl was the eldest of five children and was given the nickname, “Sweet Pea” by her Dad.
Being reared in a Christian household, Cheryl was christened on April 28, 1957, and baptized into the Baptist faith on July 13, 1969, along with her sister Vanessa and cousin Maxine, at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Atkins LeDay, Sr. in the Plaisance Community.
Cheryl, A Educated Woman was a 1974 graduate of Opelousas Sr. High School and continued her education at UL, formerly known as the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL).
While attending USL, 
Cheryl, A Virtuous Woman, met her soulmate, the love of her life, Gerald Johnson. After their courtship, they were committed to each other and very much in love. They were united in holy matrimony on June 28, 1975. 
Cheryl, A Nurturing Woman in this union, God entrusted her and blessed her with three special angels, Brandon, Jasmine, and Broderick (Brody).
Cheryl A Faithful Woman, was a loving and devoted wife to Gerald, and a dedicated mother to; Brandon, Jasmine, Broderick (Brody), and bonus daughter Jerenna. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Mimi” to; Jordan, Jyron, Cohlen, Carter, and Jasmine        
Cheryl, A Committed Woman worked at Albertson‘s Supermarket until she retired. She then entered a partnership with CVC Catering and was an assistant at Alice Boucher Elementary.  She enjoyed doing this until her health declined. Cheryl overcame many medical challenges. 
Cheryl, A believer, continued to trust  God and never wavered in her faith.  
She had a loving personality and always made people around her feel welcome. She also enjoyed spending time with her close family, sister Vanessa and friends, Priscilla, Cora, Carol, Claytina, Cecil, and Tammy.

On Tuesday, April 25, 2023 God dispatched His Angel to escort our beloved Sister to her eternal home. 
Cheryl did not give up. She remained a Strong, Beautiful, and Courageous Woman of God!
God simply said, “It Is Enough”, and now…..We Salute you!


Cherishing her memories and thanking God for her life is her loving husband of 47 Plus Years; Gerald Johnson of Lafayette, LA, one daughter, Jasmine Remika Johnson of Lafayette, LA, two sons, Brandon DeShawn Johnson and wife Tosha, of Katy, TX, Broderick Desmond Johnson (LaTrenda) of  Lafayette, LA, and bonus daughter Jerenna Williams of San Jose, CA; four grandsons, Jordan, Jyron, Cohlen, and Carter Johnson; one bonus granddaughter Jasmine Williams; two great-grandchildren;                              
Rhylee Johnson and Na’Mauri Hall. Siblings; Vanessa A. Joubert ( Dexter) of Opelousas LA Irene M. Myles of Texas City, TX, Ret. Col. Gregory Joubert and wife (Yvette) and Dr. Cornell M. Joubert and wife Christina Joubert all of Lake Charles LA; two uncles; (Godfather) Albert Miles of Opelousas LA. and John Quincy Miles of Hitchcock TX.; aunts, Irene Joubert Brown of Lake Charles, LA and Clare Bell Joubert of Fort Worth, TX; Godson, Joshua C. Joubert of Lake Charles, LA; brother-in-law Edward L. Johnson and wife, Ann of GA.  sister-in-law; Vanessa Johnson of N.O., LA., five nieces; five nephews; four great-nieces; four great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends
Cheryl is preceded in death by those receiving their wings before her, is her mom and dad; Hayward and Emma Lou Joubert Bonus sister; Jane Marie Jack; Paternal Grandparents, Eale and Olivia Joubert; Maternal Grandparents; John Miles and Emma LeDay, Clementine Thomas Miles; Mother-in-Law, Alva Mae Johnson; Brother-in-law, Alvin Johnson; and a host of uncles, aunts cousins, and, friends.
