Mr. James Ray

Mr. James Ray, 63, was born on May 19, 1953 to the late Willie Ray, Sr. and Lucretia Hall Mayse in Alexandria, Louisiana. James was also known as "Hello World" and "Nerve" to his family and friends. Services will be Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11:00 am. at the Greater Magnolia Baptist Church with the Rev. Chadwick Godfrey, Sr. officiating. He attended public schools in Rapides Parish.
With the blessing of being raised in a Christian home, James accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Magnolia Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend W. L. Jackson.
James departed this life on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charlie Mayse, Jr. and Alfred Mayse, Sr; and one sister, Ruby Ray Tison Robinson.
He leaves behind to cherish his life, one daughter, Yolanda Faye Ray of Hinesville, Georgia; five sisters, Bettye Nash (Fred) of Alexandria, Louisiana, Sally Faye Simpson (Leonard) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, Reba Stuckey (Ronnie), Gloria Jean Phillips (Carl) both of Pineville, Louisiana, and Joyce Walker (Gary) of Duell, NC; three brothers, Willie Ray, Jr., Leon Ray (Sondra) both of Los Angeles, California, and David Ray of New Orleans, Louisiana; one uncle, Herman Hall of Ontario, California; three grandchildren, Tiana, Jah Besant, Talia Blakley; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, whom he loved dearly.
Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Services entrusted to Boyce Community Home of Boyce, Louisiana.
